The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has released two Members of Parliament to assist the National Intelligence Bureau to conduct some investigation.The Members of Parliaments released to the NIB are the Member of Parliament for Yabaga Kubori, Mustapha Yussif, a Member of Parliament of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A- Plus.The MPs have been directed to appear before NIB officials for a preliminary interaction on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room in Parliament.The release letter addressed to the Director-General of NIB was contained in a letter dated April 2, 2025.Excerpts of the letter read, “Please refer to your letter dated the 25th of March 2025 in respect of a request for the release of Mustapha Yussif, MP tor Yagaba Kubori Constituency, and Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), MP for Gomoa Central Constituency. I am directed by the Rt Hon Speaker, to inform you that having regard to the limitations of Articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic, the existing protocols established with the security and intelligence agencies, and also the public interest, Parliament, in principle, agrees to the request in the above matter.”The letter signed by the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror stated that, “Accordingly, the Rt. Hon. Speaker has directed the Honourable Members to make themselves available for the preliminary interaction with your officials in Parliament, on Monday, 7th April 2025 at 10.00 am at the Sir. Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room, Office of the Speaker.”The speaker further stated, “The Hon. Members will be requested to have their lawyers present at the interaction. Kindly have your officials contact the Legal Services Office for assistance on arrival for the meeting.”The letter from the speaker of Parliament failed to disclose the main reason for their appearance before the NIB, however, the reports gathered by Peacefmonlie.com suggest that Kwame A-Plus has been invited to provide information on who the killers of Ahmed Suale, an investigative journalist who was murdered in cold blood, following a Facebook Post made by the MP threatening to disclose the killers of the journalist.The former sports minister also might have been invited to assist with the scandal that rocked the National Service Secretariat and the Sports Ministry during the All African Games hosted in Ghana during his tenure as minister.
