President John Dramani Mahama has hinted that the government intends to ban the use of Styrofoam as a food packaging material in the country.
According to him, Styrofoam plastic is one of the biggest polluters both in the sea and on the environment as well.

Speaking at the world environmental day celebrations,under the theme “Ending plastic pollution”,Mr Mahama alluded that it is time the country embrace the use of paper packaging or Aluminum foil for food packaging which is environmental friendly.
He called on all Ghanaians to rise up and defend the environment from plastic pollution as our ancestors defend the good name of our beloved country,Ghana.
The President seized the opportunity and launched the one child one tree initiative, which aims at planting over 30 million trees starting from 5th to 30th june,2025 across the country.
