I’ll show evidence I’m a woman – Bobrisky reacts to Trump’s two genders order

0

Popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has reacted to United States President Donald Trump’s recent order recognizing only two genders—male and female.

The policy, part of a series of executive orders signed by Trump on his first day back in office, seeks to establish the recognition of only two genders across all U.S. government policies.

The president confirmed this decision during his inaugural address, stating: “As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female.”

The move is part of Trump’s wider promises about what conservatives decry as “woke” culture, gender and diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) programmes.

An administration official said the executive order would “end DEI inside the federal government”, cutting funding to DEI programmes across all agencies and including a review of offices renamed because of DEI initiatives.

The administration did not say whether action would extend to the private sector, with an official saying businesses should “wait and see”.

In response to the announcement, Bobrisky dismissed concerns about the policy, expressing confidence in her identity as a woman.

Bobrisky wrote on Instagram: “I don’t have business with Trump. Trump said we have only two genders, right? And I said I am now a woman that has undergo everything. If they ask for evidence, I will show them, simple.”

Missing 8-year-old boy survives 5 days in lion-inhabited park

A young boy has been found alive after surviving five days in a game park inhabited by lions and elephants in northern Zimbabwe, according to a member of parliament.

The ordeal began when Tinotenda Pudu wandered at least 23 km (14 miles) from home into the “perilous” Matusadona Game Park, said Mashonaland West MP Mutsa Murombedzi on X.

He spent five days “sleeping on a rocky perch, amidst roaring lions, passing elephants, eating wild fruits”, she said.

Matusadona game park has about 40 lions. At one point, it had one of the highest lion population densities in Africa, according to African Parks.

Tinotenda survived his ordeal by eating wild fruit. He also dug small wells into dry riverbeds with a stick to access drinking water – a skill taught in the drought-prone area.

Members of the local Nyaminyami community started a search party and beat drums each day to try and guide him back home.

But ultimately, it was park rangers who managed to find him.

On his fifth day in the wild, Tinotenda heard a ranger’s car and ran toward it, narrowly missing it, the MP said.

Luckily, the rangers returned, spotted “fresh little human footprints,” and searched the area until they found him.

“This was probably his last chance of being rescued after five days in the wilderness,” said the MP.

The park is over 1,470 sq km (570 sq miles) and is home to zebras, elephants, hippos, lions, and antelope.

Across social media, people have been praising the young boy for his resilience.

“This is beyond human comprehension,” one person wrote on X.

Another user wrote: “He’s going to have one hell of a story to tell when he gets back to school.”

A three-year-old boy has died in a fire outbreak at Dagomba Line in Asawase, a suburb of Kumasi.

According to eyewitness accounts, the deceased was having a nap with his elderly sister when fire consumed their wooden structure serving as shelter.

His 12-year-old sister managed to escape the blaze but failed to wake the deceased brother.

Although it’s unclear what started the fire, residents suspect a faulty electrical connection instigated the fire.

The residents attempted to douse the fire, but they were overwhelmed by the magnitude of the blaze.

The structure, together with some property, was reduced to char.

The charred body has since been buried as authorities begin further investigation to establish the cause of the fire outbreak.

EOCO freezes Prestea-Bogoso Mine acquisition process amid fraud investigation

0

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has frozen the acquisition process of the Prestea-Bogoso Mine by Heath Goldfields Limited, citing ongoing investigations into alleged fraudulent activities surrounding the transaction.

In a letter dated 23rd December 2024, EOCO requested the Minerals Commission to produce documents and provide information related to the registration process of the acquisition.

EOCO specifically asked for details concerning the acquisition by Heath Goldfields Limited and any other documents related to the mine’s transfer.

The investigation, initiated by EOCO, seeks to uncover the veracity of the acquisition and whether it was carried out through fraudulent means.

As part of its investigation, EOCO has requested the cooperation of the Minerals Commission, asking officials to report to the Executive Director of the office or their representative to provide the necessary documents and information.

In accordance with Section 33 of the Economic and Organised Crime Act, 2010 (Act 804), EOCO has imposed a freeze on the acquisition process, halting further transactions between the companies involved until the investigation is concluded.

This action follows concerns regarding the legitimacy of the acquisition of the Prestea-Bogoso Mine, a significant asset in Ghana’s mining sector.

The Executive Director of EOCO, Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, who signed the directive also requested immediate compliance from the Minerals Commission, emphasising the importance of resolving the issue promptly.

The freezing of the acquisition process comes after the current managers of the mine, Blue Gold Bogoso Prestea Limited, raised red flags over the process, alleging it was being yanked off the business for no apparent reason.

Mahama to prioritize market infrastructure following Kantamanto blaze – Spokesperson

Joyce Mogtari Bawah, special aide and spokesperson for John Mahama’s campaign in 2024, has stated that the incoming Mahama administration will focus on enhancing the country’s market infrastructure, following the devastating Kantamanto fire that destroyed businesses belonging to over 30,000 traders.

“He [John Mahama] has assured us that the market enhancement project will commence immediately, and the team is set to visit these areas to assess what can be done,” she said.

Speaking on Joy News’ Newsfile on Saturday with Samson Lardy, she added, “I told my boss a few days ago that this must become the model for his discussions about enhancing markets in Ghana. If it means revisiting the drawing board or re-demarcating the area to ensure that these parts of the land are designated as sustainable market spaces, then so be it.”

She also mentioned that Mr Mahama has initiated discussions with the international community on improving various sectors in the country, including the power sector.

The Kantamanto fire tragically claimed one life and devastated thousands of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), they suspect the cause to be either an electrical fault or a case of arson.

The fire erupted late on Thursday night and spread widespread destruction, with traders scrambling to salvage their goods as the flames rapidly spread.

Why Ghana should consider changing its election date – Bullgod shares perspective

0

Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, also called Bullgod, has suggested to the Electoral Commission to consider shifting the date for elections from December.

While speaking on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, he said the exercise affects creative events and investments throughout the festive period because the majority of the diaspora fears visiting due to potential violence.

Unlike in any other year, most event organizers put in effort to hold events after the elections but end up recording lower attendance, causing them to run at a loss.

“I think one of the things we need to consider is shifting the date for elections. There was a rumour somewhere last year that they were going to put it in November. So I think we can do November like the Americas or even do it before that. What stops us? It’s just a day. The reason being that it affects investment. There’s a lot of money that comes in during that time.”

Whether it would affect the transition process, the pundit said that amendments to the constitution could be made to guide the procedure and set a different date for the changeover to the new government.

He added that Ghana cannot continue to be stuck in old ways, emphasizing that the traditional way of doing things has changed and that politics needs to be adjusted to keep up with the changes.

“For me, the constant things in life have changed. We can’t be stuck in our ways unless they look at the revenue December brings to us and say it’s negligible because that timing is some way.”

As a result, Bullgod is calling on stakeholders and industry players to advocate for this, suggesting that the date be moved to either the middle of the year or November.

Edem Mensah-Tsortome, an entertainment pundit who was also contributing to the show, concurred with Bullgod, reiterating that some people who were in the country before the elections were contemplating ttravelling abroad due to the fear of conflicts and chaos.

This could have caused massive losses to the entertainment industry and event organizers, including musicians, because they could have seen a drastic decline in numbers.

“Even us who were here, it’s like we don’t know what will happen. We were uneasy in a way,” he added.

He pleaded that if there could be a way to amend the decision, the stakeholders in charge should rethink and consider the change.

Among the damaged items were bass drums, a piano, a sound system, a keyboard, and microphones, with some equipment showing visible puncture marks.

Interestingly, items like the TV set and other non-sound-related possessions remained intact.

The motive for the act remains unclear but speculations are that the act is a protest against noise pollution.

The church leadership has appealed for calm while urging anyone with information to assist in identifying the perpetrators.
