Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana (born 13 July 2007) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a winger for La Liga club Barcelona and the Spain national team. Known for his pace, dribbling, passing, crossing ability, and ability to strike powerful long-range shots, he is widely regarded as one of the best young footballers in the world.[6]

A product of La Masia, Barcelona’s youth academy, Yamal made his first-team debut in 2023, aged 15. He quickly established himself as an integral player for Barcelona, being awarded the Kopa Trophy the following year.

Yamal has represented Spain internationally at various youth levels, and made his debut for the senior team in 2023, becoming the youngest player to represent and score for the country at age 16. He was selected for UEFA Euro 2024, playing an important role in helping Spain win their fourth title, while also winning the tournament’s Young Player Award.

Early life

Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana was born on 13 July 2007 in Esplugues de Llobregat, in the Barcelona metropolitan area in Catalonia, to waitress Sheila Ebana and building painter Mounir Nasraoui. Yamal’s mother was born in BataEquatorial Guinea, and his father is from L

His parents separated when Yamal was three, although both remained present through his childhood. The family had lived in Mataró, but around the time of his parents’ separation, Yamal’s mother moved to Granollers, where Yamal started playing football at the local club La Torreta at the age of four. He would alternate between both cities to spend time with his parents. With his father in Mataró, Yamal grew up in Rocafonda, a neighborhood described by El País as “forgotten, isolated and stigmatized”; he celebrates goals by making a gesture of the number 304, the last digits of the local postcode 08304. Following his success, his popularisation of the number has been credited with bringing pride and recognition to the working class community of Rocafonda.

At six years of age, Yamal was scouted by Barcelona and was invited to training sessions at La Masia, signing for the club in 2014 and moving to Barcelona to live and train at the academy.

it seems 2024/2025 spanish Laliga league is very difficult for the various teams to cement the top spot most especially the big teams not forgotten Madrid and Barcelona. As of February 18, 2025, the top five teams in the 2024/2025 La Liga standings are:

  1. FC Barcelona: 51 points (16 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses)
  2. Real Madrid: 51 points (15 wins, 6 draws, 3 losses)
  3. Atlético Madrid: 50 points (14 wins, 8 draws, 2 losses)
  4. Athletic Club: 45 points (12 wins, 9 draws, 3 losses)
  5. Villarreal CF: 41 points (11 wins, 8 draws, 5 losses)

Barcelona reclaimed the top spot after a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano, with Robert Lewandowski scoring the decisive penalty.

Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid are tied on points but trail Barcelona due to goal difference.

Athletic Club and Villarreal CF round out the top five, each with strong performances this season.

7. Ruben Amorim (2024–Present): Amorim’s tenure has been challenging, with a win rate of 29% over 14 games. Under his leadership, the team has struggled, currently sitting 15th in the Premier League with just four wins from 14 league games.

These statistics highlight the varying degrees of success and challenges faced by Manchester United’s managers in recent years.

A TRANSIT Ford with registration number AW 3831-21 travelling from Sunyani direction with passengers aboard heading to Kumasi has crashed two people on a motorbike to death at Fowoman in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti Region.

The passenger on the motorbike, whose name was given as Owusu Amponsah, a footballer aged 20, died on the spot, while the motorbike rider, known as Boateng, who is in his 20s, died later at the Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), after he had been transferred from the Mankranso Government Hospital.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and preservation.

However, occupants of the Ford vehicle were unhurt in the accident that occurred on Friday, February 14, 2025, at about 11:30pm.

According to an eyewitness, the driver of the speeding Transit Ford crashed their motorbike from behind.

The unfortunate accident occurred as the two friends were coming from Kwamekyeikrom where they were having a Valentine party, to buy food from Fawoman when the incident happened.

“The driver of the vehicle failed to stop after hitting the two and sped off. He was given a hot chase by a taxi driver and motorcyclists who were at the scene. Sensing that they were getting close to him and fearing for his life, he stopped his vehicle and fled to the bush,” the eyewitness narrated.

Towing vehicle driver, mate nearly lynched

A driver and mate of a towing vehicle were nearly lynched by some angry residents from Fawoman the following day, February 15, after they had come to the accident scene to tow the Ford vehicle away.  The swift intervention of the police at Mankranso, who were on patrol in the area, saved the two.

The police has since impounded the Transit Ford vehicle to the Mankranso Police station, while the driver of the Ford vehicle is being pursued for interrogation.

WALEWALE UNDER CURFEW AMID PROTESTS AND ALLEGED MILLITARY BRUTALITIES

0

The situation in Walewale and its surroundings in the North East Region is currently tense, following a series of violent incidents and alleged military brutality.

The curfew, which starts at 6 pm and ends at 6 am, was imposed to curb these disturbances after several attacks on passengers along the Tamale-Walewale-Bolgatanga highway, some of which are connected to the ongoing Bawku conflict. Many people have been killed or injured, and several vehicles have been destroyed during these incidents.

The imposition of the curfew has sparked protests, with residents expressing dissatisfaction and calling for its reversal, particularly as they argue that Walewale itself is not involved in the Bawku conflict.

They have also condemned the alleged brutalities by military personnel, particularly in response to arson incidents in the area, which they claim were misinterpreted.

Some local leaders, such as the Assemblyman for the Fongni Electoral Area, Mohammed Saani, have called for more security measures to address the criminal activities without punishing innocent civilians.

Similarly, the Member of Parliament for the Walewale Constituency, Dr. Mahama Tia Abdul-Kabiru, has criticized the government’s decision, describing it as politically motivated and not addressing the root cause of the issues.

The community remains divided on how to approach the crisis, with some calling for increased security presence while others seek an immediate reversal of the curfew.

Bishop Salifu Amoako and 2 others re-arrested shortly after AG withdrew charges against them

0

Founder and General Overseer of the Alive Chapel International Church, Prophet Elisha Salifu Amoako, and two others have been rearrested by the Police shortly after they were discharged by the Circuit Court in Accra.

According to EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, who was at the Court, Bishop Salifu Amoako, his wife and Linda Bonsu Bempah were immediately rearrested when they stepped out of the Courtroom.

He added, however, that it was not immediately clear whether fresh charges would be brought against them.

On Monday, February 17, the Attorney General (AG), through Yaw Acquah, a State Attorney, informed the Circuit Court of the directive from the AG to withdraw the charge sheet to allow for further investigations.

According to him, the outcome of the further investigations will determine the direction of the matter.

Bishop Salifu Amoako, together with his wife Mouha Amoako, a banker, and one Linda Bonsu Prempeh, a Sales Assistant, were charged for “permitting an unlicensed person to drive”.

This led to the death of two young children after the 16-year-old driver killed two young children in a gruesome accident in Accra.

The accused pleaded not guilty and were admitted to bail by the Circuit Court in Accra in the sum of GH₵50,000 with two sureties each without justification.

In Court on Monday, February 17, the State Attorney said, “About the study of the document, it has been deemed necessary to allow the police to conduct further investigations to determine the direction the prosecution should take.

“As such, we are before you this morning to withdraw the charge sheet against the three accused persons,” the State Attorney told the Court presided over by His Honour Samuel Bright Acquah.
Defence lawyers indicated that they do not oppose that request to have the charges withdrawn, saying, “If the prosecution wishes to withdraw charges brought against the accused persons, we have no objections.”

His Honour Samuel Bright Acquah, the presiding judge, before discharging them, said if the AG who initiated the action sought to withdraw, the Court would grant them as the defence did not object.

“If the Attorney General that brought the case is now praying for the withdrawal of the case, and the counsel of the accused persons are in support of the withdrawal, the court has nothing to say.

“The prayer for the Attorney General is granted, and the matter struck out as withdrawn. The accused persons are discharged,” Mr Bright Acquah stated.

REVERSE DECISION TO REVOKE PUBLIC SERVICE APPOINTMENTS – MINORITY TELLS GOVERNMENT

0

2 mins read

The Minority in Parliament has called for the government to reverse its decision to revoke the appointments of individuals recruited into public service after December 7, 2024, describing the move as distressing and uncertain for many young people.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, speaking on the floor of Parliament, appealed to President John Mahama to intervene and protect the future of those affected.

He emphasized that recruitment is a process, not an event, and expressed concern for the individuals who have already gone through interviews and aptitude tests.

“Right now, across the country, young men and women are being dismissed. How are they supposed to feed themselves and their families?” Afenyo-Markin questioned.

However, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga dismissed the Minority’s call, blaming the situation on the “reckless” recruitment practices of the Akufo-Addo administration.

He accused the previous administration of hiring party loyalists and family members instead of qualified candidates.

Mr. Ayariga further criticized the recruitment process for lacking transparency, alleging that appointments were politically motivated and made without proper advertisements.

“If you know you’re leaving office and decide to flood the public sector with workers, making it difficult for the incoming government, what do you expect?” Ayariga said, referring to the situation as an abuse of discretion.

WE WILL NOT SIT AND WAIT FOR USAID – H.E JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA

0

3 mins read

President John Mahama says Ghana must become more self-reliant in food production following the Trump administration’s suspension of USAID. He urges Africa to strengthen trade and food security.

President John Dramani Mahama has called for greater self-reliance in food production following the Trump administration’s closure of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a move that has left Ghana facing a $156 million revenue shortfall.

Speaking at a roundtable discussion at the Munich Security Conference, Mahama emphasized the need for Ghana and the African continent to shift away from dependence on foreign aid and instead invest in local food production and trade infrastructure.

In his remarks, Mahama framed the USAID suspension as an opportunity rather than a crisis, urging African nations to focus on increasing agricultural output to ensure food security.

If that aid stops coming, we would do the investments that are necessary to make our farmers more productive so that we can establish food security in Africa instead of waiting for those USAID handouts to come.

Mahama highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a vital step toward economic independence, noting that most African nations have already ratified the protocol. He stressed the importance of developing infrastructure to facilitate intra-African trade, which has long been constrained by colonial-era trade patterns that prioritized exports to Europe over regional exchange.

We need to develop the infrastructure to exchange goods amongst ourselves. Already, most countries allow free movement of people, and if we can achieve free movement of goods and services, it will fill a huge gap in South-South trade.”

While Africa adapts to the new reality, Mahama noted that American farmers are already facing difficulties due to the absence of USAID food auctions, which previously absorbed surplus US agricultural products.

US farmers are beginning to complain because USAID was the biggest mopper of excess food for food aid to Africa, and now those auctions aren’t happening.

When asked whether the USAID suspension would finally push Africa toward economic independence, Mahama was optimistic:

Definitely, we’ll learn to be more self-reliant as a continent and trade more amongst ourselves. There’s a lot of room for expanding trade, and this could be the turning point.”
